Popular singer-actress Erra Fazira is now a mother, having giving birth to a baby girl at the Damansara Specialist Centre.
Engku Aleesya Engku Emran was delivered at 11.40am yesterday by obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Gunasegaran P.T. Rajan.
“I am grateful that the wait is over and that I safely gave birth to Aleesya,” said an emotionally ovewhelmed Erra.
The new mother declared that despite the pain she endured, it would not stop her from having more children. “I don’t mind having more children but only after a year when Aleesya becomes a little bigger.

I would like her to have someone to play with,” said Erra, who is expected to resume work in June.
On her husband Suria FM chief executive officer Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin disagreeing to allow Aleesya to have a role in the sequel to the drama Mertua vs Menantu, Erra said they both agreed not to do so as it was inappropriate at this time.
“I also would not encourage my daughter to be involved in the entertainment industry and hope that she would be interested in other fields,” Erra said.
Erra said her husband and she had chosen the name Aleesya “as it was a gentle name which is nice on the ears.”
